I have recently passed my AWS Solution Architect-Associate exam, though I did not have that much working experience in AWS. The way I have prepared for my exam and what resources I have used for preparation, so let me share the ideas or tips with you, this may help you for your certification exam.

Initially I have started preparation for the AWS Solution Architect-Associate exam but after sometime I have realised that I don’t have enough knowledge about different services of AWS.

In the answer, there are multiple options, lots of services that I have heard first time and was unaware of that, so not able to evaluate the correct option.

Sometime if you don’t know specific answer then you can filter out those option first which you are sure that these are not the answers and later you will have minimum options to guess the answer.

When I had started to prepare the AWS Cloud Practitioner to explore the services, in that, I had actually learned lot of services and their usage and that helped me in many questions to answer of my AWS Solution Architect-Associate exam.

I have prepared my cloud practitioner and Solution Architect-Associate using Udemy resources (Author: Stephane Maarek and Ryan Kroonenburg) but what I observed that you can’t go for exam directly after attempting these courses, they have covered one level of overview and syllabus for these exams.

Once the attempting their courses, list down the topics and go in the details for each sections

I have listed out some sections which I have prepared

  1. S3
  2. EC2
  3. Load Balancers
  4. Autoscaling theory
  5. Networking
  6. Route53
  7. VPC
  8. WAF
  9. EBS
  10. EFS
  11. Storage Gateways
  12. FSX
  13. Cloudfront
  14. Databases
  15. VPN
  16. Direct Connect & Direct Connect gateway
  17. Migration and Disaster Recovery
  18. Understanding of CIDR — How it work

Actually there are lot of sub sections under each header but when you start preparation, you will find more details, refer below diagram to see the overall network.

One more thing here I want to highlight is that sometimes you can find all the answers same but you will have to choose the answer by keeping below points in your mind.

  1. Usage
  2. Cost
  3. Performance

Last, practice for exam is must, you will have 65 questions and you will have to complete it in 130 minutes, sometimes questions and answers are too big to read, so most of the time it will go in reading itself. While reading questions and answers, you will need complete focus and concentration otherwise you will loose time.

To practice the type of questions and time management, I have used whizlabs questions and practice exams. It was really helpful for me.

This is not the race, so take your own time to prepare yourself

Good luck for your exam, hope you will pass!!

Cheers!!
